Riyadh Skyscrapers

The most famous skyscraper in Riyadh and perhaps the whole kingdom is the Al-Faisaliah Tower and the Kingdom mall or more popularly,the Mamlaka. These two skyscrapers are the first in Saudi Arabia. If you try to see these two towers from the highway, they seems like a needle. The Faisaliah with the pin and the Mamlaka with the eye. Sometimes I imagine, wouldn’t it be nice if a small plane can pass through the Kingdoms gap and make a long trail of smoke. that will complete the fantasy of the needle.

Songs of a Failed Exploration

Musayqirah – We forsaken our beds for the excitement of exploring the ancient world of Arabia. All ready with our cameras and water for the coming trip. Although a bit late, we started at 0800 hrs but our heart are full of anticipation.

It was the City of Musayqirah this time, 105 kms away from Riyadh along the road to Makkah. The sky was cloudy and the sands playful. It was like an eerie mist from a far. We drove almost 2 hours until we reached the exit. We turn right at exit 818 where the concrete road ended just a few meters and hit the desert trail. We are heading to “The Graffiti Rock” as it was called. It was a huge rock filled with ancient writings. In a clear day you can see it from the high-way, but this time it was sandy. We have to come closer. We can see it, we’re almost there.
